How much battery does the MiBlackBox app use?

Currently there is no material change in battery life after the app is installed. The app uses your battery when in use, in much the same way as any app works. The background service requires use of the location service that is already running on your phone and so does not use any additional power when triggered.

How much data does the MiBlackBox app use?

It all depends on app usage. Someone that is on the app regularly will use more data than someone that uses it once a month. On average you would be using around 50MB a month, but it will vary depending on the number of images, video and voice recordings that you create.

How many emergency contacts can I have?

The number of emergency contacts you can have is not limited at this stage.

How do I cancel a voice recording sent in error?

If you do send a voice recording in error it cannot be cancelled. We suggest following it up with a quick call to reassure your contacts.

How does the MiBlackBox tracking feature work?

  • Location must always be on
  • Apple – Background refresh must always be on
  • Data/WiFi must always be on

How does the MiBlackBox panic feature work?

  • Make sure that your data or WiFi is on at all times.
  • In an emergency situation, open the app and push the panic button. This will trigger an audio recording of what is taking place.
  • As soon as you stop recording, an audio message will automatically be sent to your listed emergency contacts.
  • If you do not have data a normal airtime call is made (failover to GSM). Rates charged at service provider rates.

Why can’t other users view my tracking history?

If your phone storage is full, your tracking history will not be stored

Why does my screen turn black when I play back voice recordings?

This is a feature of iPhones that we unfortunately cannot change.

Sometimes the app seems to stop tracking me for no reason.

Your location will not be tracked if you only move 100m or if you stop moving completely.

For how long is a user’s tracking history stored?

We store tracking history for up to 48 hours.

Will I be able to send voice, video or picture recordings without data or WiFi?

If you are using the MiBlackBox app and are not using data or WiFi the app has GSM failover. This means that you will be able to send a voice recording via ordinary cellular networks, if they are available. Note that you will not be able to send video or picture recordings via cellular networks.

How do I unsubscribe from MiBlackBox?

For iOS devices

  • Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store
  • Tap your Apple ID
  • Tap View Apple ID
  • Sign in
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Tap the relevant subscription
  • Tap Cancel Subscription for MiBlackBox

For Android devices

  • Open the Google Play Store app
  • Tap Menu
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Tap on the app you would like to cancel
  • Tap Cancel Subscription
